Friends…

01.27.2016 by theidt //

Friends are always important. We all know that I guess…  The thing is tho that they are really easy to take for granted, neglect or even mistreat.

Spending time with someone who matters to me is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I can sit and talk with a good friend for hours. I can carve corners on the bike, work on a project or watch football with a buddy and have the greatest day!

Yeah, I like to be alone sometimes as much as the next guy but life really is better with good company.

I learned recently (again) that when life gets difficult friends are pretty handy too. They can support, advise and even protect me.  I respect my friends and they respect me. Feels good to know there are men I can count on and who count on me!

Which is why I spend the time to connect and build those relationships. It’s mostly fun anyway cuz most of my friends are pretty cool ?

Staying the course

09.15.2015 by theidt //

so it seems we’ve neglected the site long enough. I thought I’d start sharing again…  It occurs to me that the best place to start is to talk about long term plans!

Sometimes we start projects and they get done at their own pace. Pushing can be futile despite our best intentions. I often spend time with friends who wish they could speed up time itself. Money, energy, time, help & competing priorities can all affect how long things take!!!

That doesn’t mean that we can’t keep at it though. Reset, restart, try again & stay the course!  Anything worth doing is going to take time…

I just wanted to share that the best solution to getting stalled is to grab a friend and push together!

Refreshed?

12.15.2014 by theidt //

Lately I’ve had some free time… Once that was a rarity but now that my kids are older and I work shift work I actually find myself bored now & then. At first I celebrated this, enjoying the novelty and the quiet. I thought I’d love relaxing & I do but the thing is I really don’t feel better after chilling. It seems there’s a limit to my lassitude…
Instead what I find truly refreshing is accomplishment! I’ve got a lot of things I have been putting off until “someday” and that is now I guess.
As I do each of these chores and cross them off my list I feel better than I do after sitting around, FBing, gaming & even reading (my go to cure for boredom since I learned how)
Work that is self directed and self motivated restores my soul & I love it! A cleaner basement, a serviced motorcycle, organized tools, a project progressing…all put a smile on my face!! I even throw in the odd good deed for a friend or stranger!
I’m not bragging. Frankly I’m surprised! For years I dreamed of having the time to sit and relax because I thought it would refresh me. Turns out I was wrong in a most productive way. I’m still going to sleep in now & then. I still love reading and a bit of gaming. It’s cool to keep up with friends and the news but for my own peace, for the smile of satisfaction, I’ll work my list…
